“So we know the games will come pretty quickly after that. It is important that the preparation is correct.”

Lampard’s team staged an internal game at Stamford Bridge on Saturday to speed up preparations before heading to Villa Park to face Aston Villa in two weeks.

He also admitted that there were challenges when the Blues returned to contact the training, but the team is working hard to reach the best conditions before June 21st.

“The transition from non-contact to contact has been a good one,” added Lampard. “It had to happen. The players were excited to join large groups and train with contacts. It allowed us to work at a much more relevant level for match play.

The players worked very hard in training when required, to try to bridge the gap a little faster than we normally would As technical and medical personnel we must have the right balance to make sure we don’t push too hard.

“There have been challenges along the way, but that’s what football is. The players are getting more fit and we hope that Aston Villa will be ready to go, with the mentality and the physical side to face the games that are going. to come thick and fast. “
