Former Australian Open semi-finalist suspended from tennis tournament for violation of COVID-19 protocols – EssentiallySports

After months of absence from tennis, we attend exhibition events such as the World TeamTennis, in preparation for the US Open. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, organizers imposed strict rules during the event. They even fired a player for breaking certain rules, indicating how rigorously the rules will be followed.

Tennis player fired

Many safety protocols had to be followed to lead the World TeamTennis, which started on July 12 in the midst of the pandemic. Danielle Collins broke these protocols, resulting in dismissal. In a recent statement, the CEO of World TeamTennis said:

“We fired Danielle Collins for the remainder of Team TeamTennis’ 2020 season after breaking our COVID-19 protocols and leaving Greenbrier Resort and the state of West Virginia. The protocols have been implemented and communicated several times to protect the health and safety of our players, coaches and staff who are of the utmost importance for WTT. “

This will be a surprise to many given how Novak Djokovic had previously criticized for saying that it would be impossible to play under the strict restrictions on the US Open.

US Open restrictions have been an important topic of discussion since the organizers made them known. Players are not happy with this, threatening to skip the event. Serbian star Novak Djokovic was one of those players, which is something no tennis fan will be happy with.

However, there are other players such as Dominic Thiem and Serena Williams who have confirmed their participation in the US Open. Despite ruling against the restrictions, Dominic Thiem confirmed his participation in the American major.

After months without tennis, fans are hoping that many players will choose to play at the US Open despite the restrictions. And hopefully nobody will be fired for not following the protocol.
