Evenepoel resumes in the Tour of Burgos: “Great memories of Spain” | Cycling

Remco Evenepoel is aiming for the Tour of Italy this fall, but the Tour of Burgos will be his first test of the second half of the season.

Evenepoel left this morning for Italy, where he will hold an internship of about 3 weeks with his partners of Deceuninck-Quick Step. After that, the top talent moves to Burgos, where there are arrivals with the Picon Blanco and the Lagunas de Neila.

“5 months without a course, that is a long period,” says Evenepoel. “This situation is new for everyone and we are curious to see where we are after this period.”

“We will discover how our body reacts on these first race days, on the heat and on the difficult course. But I am sure that the motivation is there.”

“I have great memories of Spain, where I won the Clasica San Sebastian last year. I can’t wait to pin a jersey number on it again.”

Evenepoel is supported in Spain by climbing talents Andrea Bagioli and Joao Almeida. Deceuninck-Quick Step also counts on sprinter Sam Bennett, who is surrounded by Yves Lampaert, Michael Morkov and Shane Archbold.
