ESPN Radio toss “Golic and Wingo” | Ex-Jets WR Keyshawn Johnson May Join Morning Program

This is the end of the line for “Golic and Wingo”.

Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reports that seismic changes are happening on ESPN Radio.

ESPN replaces “Golic & Wingo” in the morning with a program probably centered on (Keyshawn) Johnson and (Jay) Williams with (Zubin) Mehenti the leader, according to sources. ESPN is currently negotiating to get there. ESPN has already announced that Johnson is joining his daily “NFL Live” schedule, which means he is traveling east of Los Angeles, where he is currently on local ESPN radio.

Marchand reported last month that Johnson was in line for a new concert. Johnson joined ESPN as an analyst in 2007 after his retirement from the NFL. Johnson played 11 seasons after being the number one pick in the New York Jets overall in the 1996 NFL draft. Johnson was selected three times in the Pro Bowl and won a Super Bowl ring with the Buccaneers from Tampa Bay.

As for Mike Golic and Trey Wingo, Marchand reports that the two contracts expire this year and that their future roles remain in a state of flux. The pair has been on the air since November 2017, following the return of Mike Greenberg to the television studio to host “Get Up”. Marchand reports that Greenberg will be part of ESPN Radio’s redesigned afternoon programming.

Mike Greenberg should have a show from noon to 2 p.m. or from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Greenberg will continue to host his morning TV show, “Get Up”. According to some sources, if it’s 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. for Greenberg, then (Max) Kellerman could probably ask for a show from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Kellerman will continue his morning TV show, “First Take,” in which he partners with Stephen A. Smith.

According to Marchand, ESPN declined to comment on the impending programming changes.
