Eagles re-sign Pro Bowler Jason Peters to play guard

The Philadelphia Eagles bring back veteran offensive lineman Jason Peters on a one-year contract.

The deal has $ 3 million in guarantees and is worth up to $ 6 million, according to Adam Schefter.

Peters, 38, was named nine Pro Bowls during his 16-year career with the Eagles and the Buffalo Bills.

The Eagles believe Peters – their unrivaled left striker for the past 11 seasons – can move to the right guard to fill the void left by Brandon Brooks, who is absent for the year with a broken Achilles.

It adds depth and versatility on the whole with the possibility of also being their swing tackle.

Andre Dillard, the team’s first choice in 2019, should start in the left tackle. He was up and down during his four departures as a rookie, leaving questions by some internally whether he was ready to take on the role full time.

While Dillard has been credited with strengthening his strength during the off season and has been praised by the coaching staff for his efforts over the past few months, Peters provides an insurance policy if Dillard is unable to adequately protect the blind side of Carson Wentz.
