Search warrant proves New York Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker and Seattle Seahawks halfback Quinton Dunbar paid their alleged victims of armed robbery, according to Pat Leonard of New York Daily News.
The players received arrest warrants on May 14 for four counts of armed robbery with a gun and four counts of aggravated assault with a gun. The alleged incident occurred on May 13, when the players were at a party that started in the evening.
Baker was seen pointing his semi-automatic weapon at one of the party attendees. Baker is said to have ordered two other people to take money and other valuables from the rest of the party. According to the police affidavit, Dunbar helped Baker take the money and valuables under Baker’s direction.
The search warrant was obtained by the Daily News as the public record for the clerk of the courts for Broward County, Florida. He allegedly cited evidence – including video footage and direct messages – that a witness named Dominic Johnson supervised payments to the four victims of Baker and Dunbar on May 15 at the office of Michael Grieco, the lawyer from Dunbar.
Johnson is said to have written a series of incriminating messages on his Instagram account on May 16. He says he has known Baker and Dunbar since they were children.
The four victims provided affidavits indicating that they had been paid to resume their initial testimony against Dunbar. Victims say they received a total of $ 55,000.
Miramar police detective Mark Moretti wrote direct messages between Baker and Johnson in the search warrant that appear to corroborate victims’ claims about a payment.
“Johnson tells Baker to come to Dunbar Lawyer’s office,” writes Moretti. “Baker replied,” Yo, I’m in town, now how much money do I get ?? I’m about to go there as quickly as possible. “”
The warrant calls for CCTV video evidence showing that the alleged gain occurs in the Grieco office building. One victim says he was paid $ 30,000. Another said he was paid $ 20,000, while a third said he was paid only $ 5,000 and gave half of that amount to a fourth victim.
Baker and Dunbar turned into Broward County Jail on May 16. They spent the night there before being released on bail the next day. Both pleaded not guilty to their charges.
