Dag-Dig-Dug Lampard at the End of the Game

London

Chelsea faced tense moments before ensuring victory over Crystal Palace. Though Chelsea should be able to end the match early.

Visiting the Palace at Selhurst Park on Wednesday (07/08/2020) at dawn WIB, Chelsea won a 3-2 victory. The Blues actually started convincingly after Olivier Giroud scored a quick goal in the sixth minute, before Christian Pulisic was added to his goal in the 27th minute.

The home team then replied through Wilfried Zaha to reduce the score to 1-2 at halftime. After the restart, Chelsea were back away thanks to a Tammy Abraham goal in the 71st minute, but Palace responded immediately with a Christian Benteke goal just a minute later.

In the remaining time of the match, Chelsea actually faced stiff resistance from the Eagles. Kepa Arrizabalaga brushed aside the efforts of Scott Dane before Kurt Zouma’s sweep thwarted Benteke, who had the potential to be a goal.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is indeed pleased with the victory of his team. However, Lampard did not like how the game ended.

“We should have more control in the game at that time. When the score was 2-0 we should have continued and controlled the game better and at 3-2 we had lots of opportunities, a good opportunity to finish him,” Lampard told BT Sport.

“There were a few wrong decisions made in the pass or the last shot and then it invited pressure.”

“Kepa made a great save and Kurt made a great tackle. In the last moments, we were really stressed out,” Lampard added.

This victory raised Chelsea to third place in the Premier League standings with the acquisition of 60 points from 34 matches. The West London team are one point ahead of Leicester City after being leveled with Arsenal 1-1, and five points adrift of Manchester United who will compete on Friday (10/7) early morning hrs.
