“Complete nonsense” – cricket analyst Mohammed rejects comparisons between current bowlers and sizes

Kyle Mayers missed a century and was out of partners on the last day of the West Indies four-day intra-squad game at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester, while Shannon Gabriel scored four goals in a four-point tie.

With the first day and part of the second day, the West Indies intra-squad game was a one-inning affair and necessarily a draw.

There were two interesting points about the bat, none of which came from the usual suspects.

On day three, Joshua Da Silva scored an undefeated 133 when Jason Holders XI recovered from 120: 5 on Tuesday and 272 against bowling by Preston McSween (3:28) and Chemar Holder (2:35).

There was also a wicket for Oshane Thomas (1-24), Keon Harding (1-69), Markino Mindley (1-32), Anderson Phillip (1-16) and Rahkeem Cornwall (1-32).

Da Silva had good partnerships with Raymon Reifer (22) and Alzarri Joseph (38). On Wednesday, only Sunil Ambris (25) achieved a double-digit figure.

In fact, the next best scorer for Holders XI to compete against a team led by Vice Captain Kraigg Brathwaite was the 43-run status column.

In response, Brathwaites XI scored a total of 178 points, the only bright element of Kyle Mayers’ innings that scored an undefeated 74 and had no partners before reaching three numbers.

But Mayer’s failure to hit three numbers was not due to lack of effort. He was wild and made his 74 out of only 56 deliveries, in which he struck three sixes and nine fours.

Shannon Gabriel was the bowler’s choice for Holder’s XI and showed himself to be fully fit again with an impressive bowling performance of 4-42.

Kemar Roach (2-25), Holder (1-21), Joseph (2-64) and Reifer (1-21) also took part in the campaign.

The West Indies are preparing for the # RaisetheBat series against England. The first game of a three-test affair is slated to begin on July 8th at the Rose Bowl in South Hampton.

The team will then play two games at its base in Old Trafford on July 16 and 24.
