Chelsea couple Emma Hayes and Beth England win the women’s Super League awards

Chelsea women’s Super League champions completed a double series of end-of-season awards as manager Emma Hayes and striker Beth England were honored.

Hayes was crowned WSL Manager of the Season after leading the blues to the title.

The campaign was reduced by the coronavirus pandemic and Chelsea passed Manchester City in points per game scale.

The champions undefeated past the league season and also won the Continental League Cup with a win over Arsenal, with Hayes claiming managerial honor.

Beth England won the WSL Player of the Season award

“I just want to thank all my staff and their contributions this season,” he said during a virtual award ceremony hosted by Kelly Smith and Ian Wright.

“This trophy is for the whole group, so a big thank you to the players for taking another level and thanks once again to our fans for being the best in the world.”

England won the Player of the Season award after scoring 14 goals and claiming four assists en route to the title.

England’s 26-year-old has seen stiff competition between Arsenal forward Vivianne Miedema, Manchester City’s Lauren Hemp and Chelsea team-mate Guro Reiten.

“It is highly valued and means a lot to me,” said England.

“I would like to dedicate the prize to my teammates, without them I would not have had the season I had.

“So a big thank you to them, this is for the whole team, all the staff and all the fans who have dealt with us all this year.”

Miedema won the Golden Boot for the second consecutive season, closing with 16 goals for Joe Montemurro’s Gunners.

The Golden Glove, awarded to the goalkeeper with the cleanest sheets, was taken by Ellie Roebuck of Manchester City, who managed 10 closings.
