The Barcelona drama in 1999, Dortmund’s triumph in Munich in 1997 and the “Finale dahoam” in 2012: From a German perspective, the Champions League is also full of great stories. Since the 1992/1993 season, the most important competition at club level has offered viewers dramatic moments. This year, the corona crisis threatened to end prematurely for the first time – but in the end, clubs and UEFA agreed on a two-week final tournament in Lisbon.

Due to the corona pandemic, the current Champions League season had to be interrupted a few days before the second half of the second round of the second round. That was the one FC Bayern affected. After a 3-0 first-leg win over Chelsea, Munich have the best chance of reaching the next round. On the other hand, tremor still has to be record winner Real Madrid: The Royal are against after a 1: 2 loss Manchester City enormously under pressure. Spain’s runner-up FC Barcelona threatens to end. The team of coach Quique Setién came up against in the first leg SSC Naples not beyond a 1: 1. Juventus Turin also has a bad starting position after a 0-1 win against Olympique Lyon.

After convincing appearances in the Bundesliga, FC Bayern is also considered a candidate for the title. FC Barcelona and Juventus Turin were not in top form in their leagues recently. It remains to be seen how strong Paris Saint-Germain will be after the month-long break. The team around Neymar is also given a remaining chance.

And the Europa League?

It is similar in the Europa League. Quarter, half and final are played as a knockout tournament in North Rhine-Westphalia without spectators.
