Canes’ unusual contract offer to broadcasters could lead to John Forslund’s exit – The Athletic

It’s almost impossible to imagine hurricanes hockey without the play-by-play announcer John Forslund. He has been with the franchise since 1991, moved with the Hartford team to Carolinas, and became a face of the franchise on the way.

Not to mention that Forslund’s hurricanes broadcast team and color commentator Tripp Tracy was one of the most praised in the NHL. It recently took 1st place in The Athletic’s 2020 NHL ranking.

With Forslund and Tracy’s contract disputes lasting just one year last season, they had to try to negotiate new contracts amid the COVID-19 health crisis and an unpredictable future for hockey.
