Bundesliga: professionals vote Robert Lewandowski the best field player of the season

As expected, several representatives of FC Bayern Munich won the traditional “Kicker” survey of Bundesliga professionals about the winners and losers of the past season: With an overwhelming lead, Hansi Flick was named the best coach of the season. 61.1 percent of the 270 participating professionals voted for the Bayern coach, which is ahead of Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Marco Rose (14.4).

Robert Lewandowski also received the award for best field player from his colleagues just three weeks after the goal scoring cannon. The Polish striker scored 34 goals this season and was crowned top scorer for the fifth time.

Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (35.2) won the goalkeeper choice ahead of Yann Sommer (Borussia Mönchengladbach / 23.7), Alphonso Davies is the season’s climber.

When it came to the referees, Deniz Aytekin replaced his colleague Manuel Gräfe as the best referee in the Bundesliga. In the survey, the 41-year-old received 43.3 percent of the votes, the 46-year-old series winner Graefe 30.7. He had previously won the election six times in a row. Felix Brych finished third (4.8).

There is great agreement among the Bundesliga professionals about Jürgen Klopp: 74.8 percent consider the Liverpool coach to be the best coach in the world after winning their first championship title in 30 years. In second place, the former Bayern and current Manchester City coach Josep Guardiola was already far behind with 13.0 percent.
