His impressive performances have led to speculation that he is being watched by the English manager Gareth Southgate in view of the Europeans that will now be held next summer due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The teenager was also rewarded by his club before the new campaign. He signed a new long-term contract at the Emirates stadium earlier this month and has now received the number seven shirt for the 2020/21 season.

When Saka first joined the first team, he was number 87, before taking the number 77 shirt this season.

After the announcement of the new issue, Saka posted a video on Twitter that analyzes the team numbers he wore at the Emirates stadium.

Next to the video there is a message that simply says: “New chapter … 7”.

Saka will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Robert Pires, Paul Merson and Ray Parlor, all of whom wore the number seven shirt as the point of their Arsenal career.
