Breaking: EFL announces results of recent championship COVID-19 tests

The EFL has confirmed that there have been no new positive tests in the championship.

A total of 2,798 players and club employees from the 24 championship clubs were tested over the past week, with zero people being tested positive.

The championship has resumed since mid-June with games behind closed doors. The regular season should peak on July 22nd.

The play-offs will then take place with the final in early August.

The League One campaign was shortened early because only the play-offs take place in this division.

And of 311 players and club employees who were tested by four clubs last week, the EFL confirmed that zero people had tested positive.

The second division season was also shortened prematurely, and the play-off final took place earlier this week. Northampton Town defeated Exeter City 4-0 and Wembley and sealed promotion to the first division.

Of 154 players and club employees who were tested from four League Two clubs, the EFL confirmed that no people tested positive.

The test results are published by the EFL every Wednesday, without the league providing specific information about clubs or individuals in the event of positive tests.
