Bottas extends his contract with Mercedes Motorsport

The 30-year-old Finnish Formula 1 driver and his team agreed on Monday to continue the collaboration. A signature is the only thing that separates Bottas from a new contract.

Bottas has been driving for Mercedes since 2017, where he succeeded Nico Rosberg. Rosberg was then reigning world champion in the major motorsport class. The Nastola driver has never won the world title.

After two races in Austria, Bottas is the leader in the world championship standings. Last week, he triumphed for the eighth time in a race since joining Mercedes. In 2019, Bottas won four races and finished second in the general classification, behind Lewis Hamilton.

Mercedes is also keen to extend Hamilton’s expiring commitment. Hamilton has always been world champion since 2014, with the exception of 2016.
