Bombers challenge ban on two games

ESSENDON will contest Dylan Shiel’s two-week ban for his high bump against Curtis Taylor from North Melbourne at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday evening.

Taylor returned to the field after the incident and was cleared of any damage after an MRI scan on Monday to assess a possible facial fracture.

If the bump is downgraded from a high to a medium impact, Shiel will escape with a game ban.

Essendon meets the Western Bulldogs this Friday night at Metricon Stadium.

It’s going to be a shock evening on Tuesday in the tribunal, as Ben Long’s argument for his bump against Fremantle’s Sean Darcy can also be heard.

Long was placed in front of the tribunal because of the hit that troubled Darcy and was classified as careless behavior, high contact, and severe impact.

Both cases are held via video conferencing since the Saints and Bombers are both currently located in Queensland.

Match Review Officer Michael Christian will also be busy Monday to review incidents from Sunday’s games, including high bumps from Brad Ebert from Port Adelaide and Marlion Pickett from Richmond.

The results will be released later on Monday.
