Bloom demonstrates excellent performance and wins fourth place in the prestigious Swiss Cup – Other sports

From July, the International Cycling Federation (UCI) offers the opportunity to organize UCI competitions of various scales. Over the weekend, a very strong group of participants gathered at the XCO cross-country track in the Swiss city of Lekuerbed. The first high-level MTB XCO cross-country race after the break caused by the pandemic took place there – the Swiss Cup.

Among the participants are a number of leading MTB riders from Switzerland, France, Germany, Denmark, Austria and Latvia. Mārtiņš Blūms, a cyclist of the Dutch team “CST PostNL Bafang”, who once again became the elite champion of MTB XCO last week from Latvians, took part in the competition.

Both before and after the Latvian Championship, Blūms, a student of coach Jānis Mūsiņš, held a training camp in Italy in alpine conditions in order to better prepare for international level competitions, including the World Cup. Already in the “Specialized” Latvian and Lithuanian championships, Bloom demonstrated a very convincing performance.

He also managed to successfully transfer it to the Swiss Cup. The 22nd start number was assigned. This led to the best performance from the first meter to fight the leading riders. In the seven-lap race, Cēsis was able to win a place in the top six. The demonstrated speed on the track was among the fastest. High fourth place for Bloom at the finish. Our rider was only 1 minute and 15 seconds behind the winner – world MTB legend Nino Šurter.

Second place went to another Swiss national athlete, Matthias Flugzyger (+00: 00: 18), while third place went to France’s leading mountain biker Jordan Sharou (+00: 01: 10). Immediately behind Bloom was the titled Swiss Lars Forster.
