Barcelona President Finally Opens Votes Regarding Rumors of Messi, Neymar and Martinez

TRIBUN-BALI.COM- Barcelona President Josep Bartomeu finally unveiled a voice related to a number of rumors linking several players with the Spanish club, including efforts to repatriate Neymar and bring Lautaro Martinez and the future of Lionel Messi.

Bartomeu has warned supporters about the impact of the corona virus crisis on the club’s finances, while claiming Barca is the club most severely affected by the economic crisis due to the pandemic.

This season, Barcelona have lost the Spanish league title to their rivals Real Madrid and do not seem to be favorites to win the Champions League.

These things led to speculation that Messi will leave the Catalan giant, but Bartomeu said that he was not worried the captain would not go anywhere.

“Messi has repeatedly said that he wants to retire here and I have no doubt he will renew (the contract),” Bartomeu told Mundo Deportivo as reported by Goal on Sunday (07/26/2020).

Messi’s partner in attack, Luis Suarez is also believed to be at the end of his career with Barcelona.

The 33-year-old Uruguayan striker will expire next summer, but Bartomeu revealed Suarez has an automatic contract extension clause.

“Luis has a contract which, depending on the number of appearances, is automatically renewed for the 2021-22 season,” he said.

When asked about which players are prioritized to renew his contract, Bartomeu called goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stagen.

“For me, Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Not only because of his quality as a goalkeeper, but also because of his personality as a player,” said the 57-year-old president.
