Bale’s situation in Madrid “unsatisfactory for everyone”

Toni Kroos acknowledges that Gareth Bale’s marginal role at Real Madrid is “unsatisfactory for everyone”.

Welsh winger Bale has only made 16 appearances in LaLiga, including only 12 starts, and scored twice when Madrid won the title this season, ending the recent series of Barcelona dominations in Spain.

The 31-year-old was fit for most of the campaign, but fell out of favor with coach Zinedine Zidane.

Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, insists that his client – once the most expensive player in the world – is not trying to leave Madrid, but his prospects of returning to the first XI seem poor.

The former Tottenham player almost left for the Chinese Super League team Jiangsu Suning last year, and teammate Kroos wonders if he is “still a little angry”.

“There is no way around it. The situation is unsatisfactory for everyone,” Kroos told the Lauschangriff podcast. “It certainly wasn’t brought up to play the way it does now.

“I think he wanted to leave last summer in principle and that the club initially agreed and then said no.

“I don’t know if he’s still a little angry about it. It’s a difficult topic.

“It is certainly not as extreme as they say [in the media]. It’s all right in the team. I’ve known him for six years and together we’ve won some pretty big things. “

  1. Zidane should respect the right of Bale to show his best talents to this generation as Zidane did.
