The sports world is in mourning. Alex Pullin, a 32-year-old Australian snowboarder, lost his life while presumably spear fishing off the Australian coast near Sydney. According to Chris Tritton, Gold Coast police officer, Alex Pullin did not have an oxygen mask and went snorkeling and spearfishing on the reef. Her body was found lifeless in the Gold Coast coastal region of Queensland.
Qualified by the head of the Australian Olympic Winter Sports as “the great pioneer of men’s snowboarding in Australia”, the champion had shone at the World Snowboardcross Championships in 2011 and 2013, which he had won. Alex Pullin was also the standard bearer for the Australian delegation during the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014.
“It’s an extremely sad day for all of us,” said Ian Chesterman, Australia’s Chef de Mission for the Vancouver (2010), Sochi (2014) and Pyeongchang (2018) Winter Olympics, to which Pullin participated. Chumpy was a champion, in addition to being a sports champion. He had a great charisma which enabled him to be a natural leader. He was always ready to give his time to develop winter sports in this country, being so passionate about what he did. “
