Arsenal FC wins – thanks to Aubameyang – sport

Former Dortmund player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang led the English football club FC Arsenal to the final of the FA Cup. The Gunners defeated defending champions Manchester City at Wembley Stadium in London with a 2-0 win (1-0) thanks to a double pack from Gabon and could still save a previously unsuccessful season with a title win in the final on August 1st. Manchester United and Chelsea FC will determine the final opponent on Sunday (7 p.m.).

Record-holder Arsenal, with which Mesut Özil was again not in the squad, could turn away the unusual scenario of a season without a European Cup with a triumph in the FA Cup. In the Europa League, the Gunners have already dropped out, in the league the European Cup qualification seems unrealistic for the Londoners placed only in tenth place with two games remaining.

Gunners coach Mikel Arteta, once an assistant coach at City under Pep Guardiola, built a possible national cup double for his Spanish teacher with a sophisticated counter-tactic. At the beginning of March the Skyblues won the League Cup, and the handle pot in the Champions League is still possible in August.

A few days after the controversial lifting of the European Cup suspension by the International Sports Court CAS, City acted with national team player Ilkay Gündogan in the starting eleven in round one offensive without ideas and defensively revealed large gaps at the same time. Aubameyang (16th) initially failed alone in front of Ederson, before only three minutes later he hit with a strong outside drop drop kick from an acute angle (19th).

Former German international Shkodran Mustafi awarded a higher half-time lead (41.). After the move, Manchester was a little more determined, the offensive actions became more dangerous. Kevin de Bruyne’s free kick grazed the outside net (61.), Raheem Sterling gave a somewhat surprised free-standing from three meters (64.). But in the middle of the strongest phase of the Guardiola team, Aubameyang used a counterattack to make the decision (71st).
