Three New Orleans Pelicans players tested positive for COVID-19 when the team began stepping up activities that led to the restart of the NBA season on July 30th.
Basketball operations executive vice president David Griffin, pelicans, told reporters that the three players, who have not been nominated, are self-insulating and subjected to daily tests and can return to the team after two days of negative tests.
According to ESPN’s Andrew Lopez, the three positive tests for pelicans were among the 16 announced last week by the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association out of 302 conducted on June 23. The 22 teams included in the reboot have tested players and staff members included in the travel party that will go to the Orlando area next month.
According to the NBA return schedule, players will begin mandatory individual training on Wednesday. The pelicans are part of the group of eight teams scheduled to travel to Orlando on July 8th.
New Orleans will face Utah Jazz in the first reboot game.
The Pelicans (28-36) are 3.5 games behind the Memphis Grizzlies (32-33) for the playoff final point in the Western Conference.
