Białystok (Poland), June 28, LETA. The Gdansk “Lechia” team, represented by Latvian football national team midfielder Krister Tober, won the match of the strongest group in the second round of the Polish extra class on Sunday.

“Lechia” in the guests with the result 2: 1 (0: 1) prevailed over Belastok “Jagiellonia”.

Tobers started the match in the starting eleven as the center defender. He did not save Lechia twice from the ball into the goal in the first half, but in the first of them the goal was not scored. Jagiellonia had a chance to draw in the final minutes of the second half compensation period, but in one of the episodes Tobers became the main character of the guests. The Latvian footballer, standing just in front of the goal line, headed off the opponent’s strong kick.

Lechia ranks fifth in the strongest group in the second round with 52 points in 33 games, two points behind the first three or Eurocup zone. The number of points is up to the second-place Gliwice “Piast”, but the leader of the Warsaw “Legia” is already ahead with an 11-point advantage.

The Gdańsk team has four extra-class games and participation in the Polish Cup until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, the “Arka” of Gdynia, represented by the goalkeeper of the Latvian national team Pavel Steinbor, continues to fight for the preservation of the place in the highest league of Poland.

In the second group of the second stage, Gdynia footballers with 33 points in 32 games take the sixth place among eight teams, but the first five who will ensure to stay in the extra class is eight points away.

After 30 games, the championship teams were divided into two parts, and the fight for medals and the Eurocups is continued by eight leading clubs.
