Given the worst defensive record in the top ten of the Premier League, it’s no surprise that Tottenham is associated with a number of central defenders before the summer transfer window.
The future of Jan Vertonghen and Juan Foyth is also in the air, so a new center-back is likely to be even more of a priority for Jose Mourinho’s team.
And according to The Daily Telegraph, the Lilywhites are looking at the Seville powerhouse Diego Carlos.

The report claims that while Spurs is involved in the race to sign Kim Min-jae, the defender of Guoan in Beijing, Carlos is another alternative for them. The most important sticking point in a deal for the Brazilian, however, is his price proposal. Sevilla are said to want more than £ 35million to part with the 6-foot ace.
After Spurs fans found out about their links to Carlos, they flocked to Twitter to share their reactions.
Diego Carlos please Levy

Please be honest, this guy is an absolute beast

Diego Carlos would be a great signature. A premium CB that adds real steel to @ SpursOfficial’s defense.

A few fans insisted that Daniel Levy simply wasn’t ready to sign someone like Carlos, and given the £ 35m price reported, it’s clear why.
Since he’s actually good and young, he’s expensive and no, Levy won’t shell it out

What is the price, more than a bag of chips and you can forget it.

Another Spurs fan in particular asked why the club hadn’t opted for a proven and elitist option like Napoli’s central defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
Giving money to transfer a player who is playing a quality season, rather than to Koulibaly, who plays at the highest level for a few years, would be a mistake in life, but neither will certainly happen.

Carlos is part of a team from Seville that is currently fourth in the La Liga and will play a prominent role in the fight for Champions League football next season.
The 27-year-old has played in all but two of Seville’s league games this season and has impressive defense and passport statistics compared to Toby Alderweireld.
Who should Spurs sign?
Kim min-jae
Diego Carlos
According to Sofascore, he wins more duels overall (4.1), scores a better fit on average (84%) and, unlike Alderweireld, who has scored two goals, has not made any mistakes that result in a shot or a goal this season have led.
Spurs have many options to choose from, but Carlos plays on a team that competes with the big boys in Spain and seems to do more than just exist.
