The only thing that sports fans love more than their team’s success stories is to complain about their team’s mistakes. And there is no better way to relive these ups and downs than through the design where missed opportunities are right where the world can sharply criticize.

This week I look back on 20 years of design history at The Athletic.

It started on Monday with an analysis of each team’s best design efforts. It continues today with a revisionist story that any fan base would probably rather forget – but never will.
