The first edition of the 6.50 Mini Base Regatta will set sail on July 24 in front of the new entrance to the port of Barcelona with the participation of twenty competition boats. Co-organized by the Fundació Navegació Ocèanica de Barcelona (FNOB), the test, exclusively for this type of boat, will have a Barcelona-Dragonera-Cabrera-Tagomago-Columbretes-Barcelona route. It is a 400-mile route, which will be done alone and without scales or communication with land.

The Mini Class Race 6.50 is a test intended for the class in which practically all ocean sailors start. The route consists of an unprecedented route that requires leaving the minor islands of the Balearic archipelago to starboard on a very technical route. This test is part of the series of three Mini 6.50 competitions that, scoring for the classification for the prestigious Mini Transat, will be held this summer on the coast of Barcelona.

On July 21, the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona will begin to receive the first participants along with their boats and will depart on the 24th at 12:00. The organizers estimate that the first participants will take about four days to complete the test, but depending on the weather conditions this period may range from three to six days. On the 29th, the awards ceremony will take place at the RCNB facilities.

Another significant detail is that the boats will sail with traditional cartography (on paper), without a motor and with full energy autonomy.

For many sailors, this concentration of Mini regattas constitutes a formidable opportunity to accumulate miles in regatta for the qualification for the Mini Transat of 2021, with a single displacement and therefore with little budget.

The Mini Transat is the goal of every minist. It is a regatta of more than 4,000 miles (7,400km) between France and the Caribbean, alone, without assistance and without communication with land in boats 6.5 meters long. Every two years, more than 80 women and men take the start of this legendary regatta.
