The Cleveland Indians’ 60-player pool includes the best prospects Nolan Jones, Tyler Freeman and George Valera

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Third baseman Nolan Jones, infielder Tyler Freeman and outfielder George Valera will train with several of the Cleveland Indians’ 20 best prospects at Classic Park in Lake County after the club announced its 60-man pool on Sunday afternoon Has.

Major League clubs had until Sunday 4:00 p.m. to submit their 60-man roster, including up to 20 players who could train elsewhere near their home stadium.

Other potential candidates for Jones, Freeman and Co. in the home of the single-A captains are right-hander Triston McKenzie, the catcher and the No. 1 draft picker Bo Naylor from 2018 and the top pick pitcher Daniel Espino from 2019. Right-handed Ethan Hankins, who was ranked 35th in 2018, will also train in Eastlake.

Only players from a team’s 60-man pool can participate in games during the shortened 2020 season. However, many of the potential customers are unlikely to be active in a game this year.

Non-squad participants INF / OF Ernie Clement, right pitcher Eli Morgan and left Kyle Nelson will also take part in a 15-person crew training session in Lake County. The Indians have five vacancies on their 60-man list, so there is an opportunity to hire additional players.

Well-known names adorn the 40-strong list of players of the tribe who will be training on the progressive field as soon as the camp reopens later this week.

Catcher Beau Taylor, who appeared in nine spring training games in March, will provide depth when the camp opens. Infielder Yu Chang and Mike Freeman are in the squad in Big League Park, where they are likely to renew their fight for the supply position with Christian Arroyo. Daniel Johnson, Bradley Zimmer and Tyler Naquin will train at Progressive Field in a heated race for spots in the crowded outfield.

Starting pots Jefry Rodriguez and Logan Allen will work with key players, while helpers Anthony Gose, Dominic Leone and Scott Moss will also provide depth.

Cleveland’s opening list will include 30 players, a number that will decrease to 28 after two weeks of play and to 26 after four weeks. Players on the 60-day injured list (a 45-day list this year) do not count towards the total of a team in the 60-man pool. The tribe currently has no players on the injured list.

Jones, ranked number 42 in the off-season by MLB Pipeline, was promoted to Double-A Akron last season and received an invitation to run in the Major League Camp, where he appeared in nine games, seven times during spring training and scored nine goals.

Tyler Freeman, who led all minor leaders of the Indians with 151 basic hits in 2019, is rated No. 96 overall by MLB Pipeline. During the camp in March, he hit an RBI in nine bats .333.

Valera, the number 4 in the organization, performed in a spring training game and smashed a solo home run that ended in three runs.
