The clash between Leicester and Crystal Palace receives the green light despite fears of the coronavirus

Leicester’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday has been approved by the government.

A local ban has been imposed in the city due to an increase in coronavirus cases, but Health Minister Matt Hancock told Sky News that the game could continue.

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers had said his players would be flexible if they couldn’t play their remaining home games on their own patch.

He said: “Nothing has changed in the way we have worked in this situation so far.

“It is a very safe environment for the games. We will just keep working until we are told otherwise.

“I always said that we would react accordingly. We have to be agile during this time.

“I think at this moment we are in the safest place where we can be in terms of our work, also in the stadium.”

Roy Hodgson said Palace would be happy to face Leicester in a neutral place if the King Power Club couldn’t host the game this weekend.

“I heard in the news today that there is a potential problem in Leicester,” the palace manager said Monday.

“I am very pleased that the Premier League is taking care of it.

“I’m sure they’ll tell us where and when to play the game.

“I am sure if they cannot play in Leicester they will find an alternative venue and we look forward to playing against Leicester City wherever the Premier League prompts us to play.”
