The Barcelona flop Philippe Coutinho was offered to the EPL Tottenham Hotspur team, according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Coutinho, who joined Barcelona from the giants EPL Liverpool for a £ 145 million commission in January 2018, has been on loan to German giant Bayern Munich since last summer.

In all of this, it has been reported that Barcelona would be willing to suffer a huge loss of £ 60 million just to remove Coutinho from their books. The Catalans are facing their own financial difficulties, and with an interest in Inter’s Lautaro Martinez, they are trying to sell as many players as possible to afford it.

Coutinho was considered one of the most attacking midfielders in the world during his spell with Liverpool EPL. Such were his performances that Barcelona signed him to replace the legend of the departing club Andres Iniesta.

Coutinho started his spell well in Barcelona. However, the inability to enter the system of the then director Ernesto Valverde and the consequent poor shape led him to leave on loan to Bayern Munich.

The 28-year-old made 76 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions, scoring 21 goals and providing 11 assists before being sent to the Bundesliga. Coutinho was in good shape there too. In 32 appearances for Bayern Munich this season, he has scored 9 goals and provided 8 assists. However, it seems unlikely that the Bavarians will activate the 120 million euro clause in his contract to sign it permanently.

A move in Tottenham makes little sense. Jose Mourinho’s team has a good assortment of midfielders. While Christian Eriksen left for Inter Milan last January, Dele Alli’s good form under Portuguese in role no. 10 indicates that the connections with Coutinho could only be small talk.

The EPL must focus more on resolving fullback deficiencies. Central defender Jan Vertonghen has had to play left-back on many occasions this season. Serge Aurier also remains suspicious of his right back.
