Action in the top two levels of English football will progress in the coming weeks as the Premier League and championship draw closer to their conclusions.
Sheffield United is next in action on Thursday when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Bramall Lane in the top division.
In the next few days’ championship, Leeds United will face Luton Town, while Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday will face Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion.
But despite the ongoing action, rumors and transfer speculation continue, and here’s the latest on Yorkshire’s clubs in the top two levels of English football.
Registered blades and city want to leave the current club
Sheffield United’s reported goal, Josh Hawkes, will soon leave Hartlepool United when his contract expires.
It has been confirmed that the midfielder has not arranged a new deal with pools and will soon become a free agent.
TEAMtalk has previously reported that the Blades, Hull City, Huddersfield Town, Barnsley, Burnley, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Portugal’s Sporting Braga have kept an eye on the 21-year-old.
“Josh Hawkes will leave the club,” Hartlepool boss Dave Challinor told Hartlepool Mail.
“Hawkesy has been told there are other ways he can explore. If he moves somewhere else, there will be compensation and we will get a fee.”
Wednesday’s Garner links have been downplayed
Sheffield Wednesday chief Garry Monk has downplayed the club’s reported interest in Manchester United talent James Garner.
The owls were linked to a move for the United midfielder, but, talk to Yorkshire Live After beating Bristol City, Monk downplayed this suggestion.
“I think we will be connected to everyone. I don’t even know what the next season will be like. I don’t know when it will start. Nothing was said to us when the broadcast window would open or when it would end.
“I’ve already told you what the squad needs to look like to get ahead, and the club works hard behind the scenes to identify players. The market we are going to work in will be free and credit is all we can do. “
City defenders soon to leave
Huddersfield Town central defender Jon Gorenc Stankovic will leave John Smith’s Stadium at the end of the championship season to join Austrian club Sturm Graz.
The defender’s contract with the Terriers expired on June 30, but he was one of several players who agreed to a short-term extension of his contract to complete the current campaign.
Stankovic will continue to be available to Danny Cowley until the end of the season, but will then travel to Austria as a free agent.
The 24-year-old switched from the Slovenian team Domzale to Town in 2016 after having previously played for Borussia Dortmund II under the then Terrier boss David Wagner.
Leeds learns white price
Leeds United has to crack Brighton’s record sales if they want to land Ben White permanently this summer. Alan Nixon from the Sun says.
The Brighton loan player has excelled in Marcelo Bielsa’s squad this season without missing a minute of his title chase campaign, and interest in his services has grown as a result.
Leeds understandably would like to win White over for a permanent deal, but this prospect always seemed unlikely – and the number required will surely end any debate on the matter.
According to Nixon, White faces a new deal with the seagulls and they will charge between £ 40m and £ 50m if he is to be sold.
