Dean Henderson will remain with Sheffield United until the end of the current season after an agreement to extend his loan from Manchester United has been signed.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper should return to his parents’ club on Tuesday after his temporary contract expires, but remains at Bramall Lane until the end of the extended season.

Henderson was outstanding for the Blades as they faced a surprising challenge for European football in their first season in the Premier League.

He has played without conceding eleven times and has played in all but two of Sheffield United’s games. Due to his achievements, he was appointed to Gareth Southgate’s English squad in October 2019.

Henderson signed a new contract at Old Trafford last summer after contributing the Blades to the championship and was named Manchester United and England’s future number 1 by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
