Rome Worrying

Jakarta

AS Roma is considered to be in an alarming situation at the moment due to various internal problems. Former defender Christian Panucci calls Roma a bombshell.

Seeing Roma in the standings board really doesn’t look too bad. giallorossi currently in fifth place in the Italian League with 48 points from 27 matches, six points behind Atalanta who are in fourth position aka the Champions League zone limit.

That could at least be an indicator that Edin Dzeko’s appearance under coach Paulo Fonseca, who just arrived at the start of the season, is rather promising. Their performance was supported by the relatively okay recruitment of Sports Director Gianluca Petrachi.

Newer players like Chris Smalling, Gianluca Mancini, Jordan Veretout, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan can be directly relied on by Roma. But lately internal problems began to bother.

Rome has frozen Petrachi from the post of director and is thought to be waiting for the time to fire him. This decision was reportedly motivated by a dispute between the club’s owner, James Pallotta, and Petrachi.

In addition there is also the problem of club sales, which until now has not been clear. Previously it was rumored that Rome was on the verge of ownership in the hands of another US businessman, Dan Friedkin.

“The situation is out of control. The internal situation at the club looks like a barrel of gunpowder, as seen in part in the Petrachi scourge,” said former Roma defender Christian Panucci.

“There is a club owner who has never been near the club and does not know what is happening. And that is a big problem for a demanding club like Rome,” he told Sky Sport Italia, as quoted Football Italia.
