Roma urged Arsenal target Justin Kluivert to commit to what’s left of his team’s push for European football in the coming season, according to reports.

Speculation for several months connected the Dutch international Kluivert with a move to the Gunners.

According to some reports, Arsenal is in talks with the 22 year old and the super agent Mino Raiola is present.

The latest statement from Gazzetta dello Sport he says the Roma, who need to raise funds, are resigned to losing Kluivert and Cengiz Under for a total of € 65 million (£ 59 million).

However, the Italians don’t want the pair to give up on the club’s push for European football next season.

Roma are struggling to get that message across, and the team’s CEO, Guido Fienga, has now intervened.

The source claims to have asked head coach Paulo Fonseca to motivate his players for future challenges.

Fienga and her official colleagues feel that many lack the desire to finish the season to the fullest. Several players – including Kluivert and Under – have reported that they need to convince before it’s “too late”.

In fact, Kluivert didn’t appear in Roma’s first game last weekend, a 2-1 win over Sampdoria, before lasting 58 minutes against Milan last time out.

Under, meanwhile, played 18 minutes against Sampdoria and was an unused substitute against Milan.

Roma are in fifth place in Serie A, nine points from Atanta in fourth place.

However, they still have to play Napoli in sixth place – which is three points behind – and also face Juventus and Inter before the campaign ends.

According to reports Under is a target for Everton and West Ham, with Napoli also passionate.

BOSS ARSENAL ARTETA REACHES THE SALIBA DECISION

In other news, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants William Saliba to play the Coupe de France final.

Arsenal signed the defender last summer and returned him to Saint-Étienne for the current campaign.

A foot injury interrupted his progress, excluding him for three months.

However, Saint-Etienne will face Paris Saint-Germain in the final on July 24th.
