Roberts punishes Hetmyer for unsubscribing from the England tour

I use my Sundays to look back at what has happened in the world of sports. On many Sundays, I find that people have viewed the stories they saw during the week through different lenses. I have some of my personal views on these topics and will share them with you. Welcome to #INCASEYOUMISSEDI

Let’s not put Cornwall under pressure.

Former West Indies hitter Philo Wallace welcomed Spinner Rakheem Cornwall to the last day’s squad for England’s test tour in an interview on Mason and Guest radio. Wallace described the Antiguan as “match winner” and “Trump”. In my opinion, Cornwall has immense potential, but calling him a match winner simply means putting too much pressure on the young man who is new to this level and format of the game.

The 27-year-old off-spinner has so far played two friendly matches for the West Indies. At the debut, he took three gates against India before claiming ten gates in his one-off test against Afghanistan. During the recently completed training game in England, Cornwall took a wicket and scored two runs. Is this a sign that he is already feeling the pressure of expectations?

Given Cornwall’s limited experience with test games, I would suggest that we give it time to settle down as a member of the test team. I firmly believe that Test Cricket is a completely different level of play and playing England will not be a walk in the park as they are at home and hungry for a win.

Unsubscribe from Chris Gayle CPL – a surprise!

The 2020 Hero CPL will be different without the Universe Boss. As a journalist and cricket fan, I will miss the energy he brings to the games, although I respect his personal decision not to play, especially given the COVID 19 pandemic.

Last Monday, Gayle informed the St. Lucia Zouks of his decision by email that he was unavailable.

In the email, Gayle pointed out that because of the ban, he couldn’t meet his family and young child who are in St. Kitts because he was in Jamaica. Gayle said he needed a break and wanted to spend time with his young family.

Who can blame the cricket player, especially given the recent events?

Gayle signed with the Zouks in April after a violent breakup from Jamaica Tallawahs. Due to the impact on the Jamaica Tallawahs, I expected fireworks from the T20 superstar. I was expecting him to use his frustrations as a fuel to give this CPL a strong rating.

In the meantime, Gayle’s abrupt decision has disrupted the Zouks’ plans to design the players, which were practically the first time due to travel restrictions for COVID-19.

The Zouks signed Gayle as one of the non-draft marquee players in the $ 130,000 to $ 160,000 price range. In his absence, the franchise company is likely to make the first choice when designing.

TTFA suggests mediation

I believe mediation is a viable option to resolve the dispute between FIFA and the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA).

To be honest, I’m surprised it wasn’t used earlier. It’s cheaper than going to court, especially because of the William Wallace government’s reported financial situation.

FIFA disbanded the Wallace-led executive on March 17, 2020, less than four months after it was deployed. They were replaced by a normalization committee led by local businessman Robert Hadad. The committee has been mandated to oversee local football affairs and reduce TTFA’s debilitating $ 50 million debt.

Although mediation is informal and flexible, it could play a major role in shaping the dispute. In the case of the TTFA, they would be given the opportunity to influence the outcome of the process while receiving an open ear from FIFA.

The mediation also focuses on maintaining the long-term relationship between the parties. If the TTFA went this way earlier, things may not have been as chaotic as they are now.

Congratulations! Well deserved Liverpool.

How can you get upset when a team wins a big title after 30 years of disappointment and frustration?

How can you interview a team that has only lost seven points in 31 games this season? How can you not celebrate a team that has won a seven game title?

Congratulations to the Reds, who may have had some concerns over the uncertainty of ending the season due to COVID 19. The manager Jürgen Klopp, who replaced Brendan Rodgers in 2015 when the team finished 10th in the table, must be responsible for this. Although it took five years to win the biggest prize in English football, Klopp’s influence on Liverpool was immediately noticeable. “We need to switch from doubters to believers,” was his striking statement during the press conference, when he was introduced as the club’s new manager.

Overall, Liverpool was a constant group and as Klopp said: “They are confident because we won, but they are modest. If they stay humble, we have a good chance of being successful. “Congratulations guys!
