Robbie Fowler’s A-League career ends as a coach and Brisbane football

Robbie Fowler’s time as coach of Brisbane Roar is over. The Liverpool and the A-League club separate.

Fowler’s future has been in doubt since he returned to England after the competition’s return in March due to the Covid 19 crisis.

When the roar returned to training last week, Fowler and his assistant Tony Grant were still in the UK and had no plans when to return to Australia.

In an interview with the English TV show Soccer AM, Fowler said recently that he felt that he had “no priority” for the club and that no flight agreements had been made for him or for Grant.

The ex-England striker took over the Roar as the successor to John Aloisi. Fowler took command in mid-last year and overtook the Roar squad. After a slow start, he was raised to fourth place on the ladder before the league was suspended.

In 22 responsible games, Fowler led the Roar to 10 wins, five draws and seven losses in his first full-time appointment as head coach since the end of his illustrious career.

Fowler has been associated with the vacancy at English second division Birmingham City in the past few weeks.

The right grant, who has played professionally for several English clubs like Everton and Burnley, will not return to the club either.

Former Wales Under-21 player Darren Davies, who coached the Aloisi-Fowler club, will coach the team with ex-Roar midfielder Warren Moon for the rest of the season.

The Roar still has four regular season games in the 2019-20 season, which is slated to resume on July 16.
