After former president Sepp Blatter and his ex-right-hand man Jérôme Valcke, both dismissed for several years, it is the turn of former FIFA financial director, German Markus Kattner, to face a 10-year suspension from all football-related activity for receiving very substantial bonuses. The suspension of Mr. Kattner, together with a heavy fine of one million Swiss francs (940,000 euros), pronounced by the ethics committee of Fifa, follows an investigation by the same internal justice of the body , opened in September 2016, on suspicion of “conflict of interest” and “corruption”. This investigation also targets Mr. Blatter as well as Jérôme Valcke, long secretary general of the authority. The three men are accused of having shared bonuses and bonuses up to $ 80 million between 2011 and 2015. Mr. Kattner is accused of having received substantial bonuses, however apparently provided in additives to his contract but whose terms were kept secret within Fifa and that only a few people in the body would have known and authorized.
