Redskins WR Emanuel Hall tears up Achilles during training

Washington Redskins WR Emanuel Hall announced via his Instagram that he tore the Achilles in his left foot last month during his training. Hall was signed with the Redskins’ training team in December of last year, and then signed a reserve / futures contract after the end of the season.

Emanuel Hall was highlighted on Hogs Haven last week in an article on lesser-known players titled “Six Redskins Who Could Surprise In 2020”. Here’s what KS4GM wrote about Hall’s prospects for forming the team:

Hall, originally scheduled by some to participate in the third or fourth round of the 2019 draft, was finally chosen by the Bears as an undrafted free agent last year. He was dropped by the Bears before the season, picked up by the Bucs and added to their training team. Dropped from their PS in September, he was added to the Redskins’ training team in December.

High speed (4.39 40) deep threat who has had injury problems at college, Hall is an interesting potential addition to the Redskins’ WR body, particularly in light of the move to an Air Coryell style offense. Given that Terry McLaurin is the only WR “sure thing” on the list right now, this may be Hall’s best (and last) chance to form an NFL team. He must have improved his course and his quality of capture during the off-season to realize this opportunity.

Emanuel Hall was also featured in a profile project on Hogs Haven. He has captured 70 passes for 1,835 yards and 14 touchdowns in his last two seasons in Missouri. He was seen as a deep and rapid threat that had to work to improve his route.

Hall was considered a sniper on a list that included a very young WR group. Terry McLaurin is obviously the No. 1 receiver, but after him there will be intense battles to fill the depth table. 2nd year WRs Steven Sims Jr. and Kelvin Harmon have had playtime and are expected to continue this season. Trey Quinn could head south if he doesn’t impress the new coaching staff.

The Redskins also drafted Antonio Gandy-Golden this year. Darvin Kidsy Jr., Jordan Veasy, Jester Weah and Cam Sims are also back this year to try to win a place. Cody Latimer was a signature veteran who faces legal issues, and he is unlikely to be part of the team if he is able to play a season this year. Washington also signed UDFA Jonathan Johnson and Isaiah Wright after this year’s draft. Wright received a lot of buzz during this off-season.
