The capital of Morocco, Rabat, will host in September the CAF Cup semi-finals, which were suspended last March due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Confederation of African Football announced ( CAF) at the end of the meeting, Tuesday by videoconference, of its executive committee.

As for the Champions League, CAF has formalized a new formula, a final four which will be played only in Morocco.

In other words, there will be no return semi-finals, but knockout matches. The two qualified will compete in the final. Two Moroccan clubs are still in the running in this competition, namely the Hassania of Agadir, the Renaissance of Berkane, Pyramids FC and Horoya FC.

The Executive Committee also decided to create the Women’s Champions League in the 2021 season.

It is a historic decision that will probably contribute to the development of women’s football in Africa. “The format of the competition, as well as other details around the event will be communicated in due course,” said CAF President Ahmad Ahmad.

However, he announced the elimination of the CAN women 2020. This competition will make its return in 2022 and will qualify for the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
