PKO Ekstraklasa: Wisła Płock beat ŁKS Łódź, result, report

  • For Wisła Płock is the first victory after six matches without a set of points, which could calm the mood in the team a bit
  • ŁKS Łódź has lost its mathematical chances to maintain in the previous queue
  • The hosts have already made some advance payment before the break and have not returned it until the end

Guests joined this meeting in a bad mood. In the previous series of games defeating Górnik Zabrze (1: 3), the residents of Łódź even lost their mathematical chances to maintain in the top league. However, ŁKS coach Wojciech Stawowy announced that his club intends to say goodbye to Ekstraklasa in honor and will fight until the end. The situation was certainly not facilitated by the fact that they were not particularly successful in away games this season. In total, in sixteen such meetings, ŁKS collected only six “points”, triumphing only once.

Wisła after resuming the games also had no reason to be more optimistic. On Tuesday, she lost to her namesake from Krakow (0: 1) and completed the sixth match without a win. Although it seemed that she could be calm about her livelihood, a slight unease entered the ranks of Radosław Sobolewski’s team. The team from Płock announced that on Saturday they will do everything to return to the winning path and dispel any doubts.

The meeting started with a somewhat chaotic game from both sides, and the fans gathered at the stadium. Kazimierz Górski could not be too happy with the course of this match. From 20 minutes, however, their mood significantly improved, however, Cillian Sheridan. The Irishman won the duel with Maciej Dąbrowski very well and gave his team a lead at the post. Wisła presented much better than the rival and documented it before the break: Hubert Adamczyk played the perpendicular ball to Piotr Tomasik, and the midfielder of Nafciarzy accurately hit the long corner did not give the goalkeeper a chance.

After the change of sides, Wisła controlled the meeting, and ŁKS – although ambitiously tried to fight – could not be tempted to contact the goal. It was menacing in the 75th minute when Maciej Wolski decided to shoot, but he hit the goal.

Until the end of the match, the scenario did not change: ŁKS attacked, and Wisła focused on a counterattack. The result, however, remained until the last whistle and the set of points remained in Płock.

They said after the match:

Radosław Sobolewski (Wisła Płock coach): Today we have gained very important, very valuable three points that bring us closer to the final goal, which is to keep Wisła Płock in the first league. I congratulate the boys on their attitude in today’s meeting, especially congratulations on the first half when we wanted to get high under the opponent. We really wanted to score a goal, and we managed to score two, for which glory. However, when it comes to the second half, we wanted to wait a bit for the opponent, let our half into it, but it seems to me that we have given too much initiative and the opponent has come to his own goalkeeper situations several times. Nevertheless, I assess the whole match positively and congratulate the boys.

Dawid Arndt (ŁKS goalkeeper): First of all, another defeat, it’s hard for me to say why it is so poor to enter the match, because in the second half we showed that we can play, dominate the rival. In the first half we lacked dash and aggression, the second half was definitely better in our performance. The question is why we can’t play this game from the first minutes.
