Neco Williams “earned” a breakthrough in the Liverpool Premier League by highlighting two features

Trent Alexander-Arnold believes Neco Williams deserved his debut in the Premier League – and recognizes some of his own qualities in the teenager.

Williams made his top bow for the Reds when he replaced Alexander-Arnold 16 minutes after the end of the 4-0 game against Crystal Palace last Wednesday.

This was a breakthrough for the 19-year-old Welsh right-back, who made his first team debut in October and made a total of five starts in cup competitions.

And when Alexander-Arnold was asked if he had seen similar characteristics in his colleague from the academy, there was no doubt.

“Just willingness to learn and improve every day,” he said.

“You can see how he improves and absorbs little things every day – just like all young boys – and I think there is no better place for young players than in Liverpool to get the chances they had (against Palace ). “”

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Alexander-Arnold added: “Having the opportunity to train with world class players will only improve you and prepare you for days like this, so I was overjoyed with the way he played and also with Harvey (Elliott) when he came.

“They showed the quality and showed that they get the chance when the gaffer is ready – and they also deserve the chance.”
