Manchester United receives Kai Havertz’s transfer update from Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen manager Peter Bosz insists he is sure that Kai Havertz will remain in the club beyond the summer, but admits that the decision is beyond his control.

Germany national Havertz has been heavily tied to a move at the end of the season with Manchester United, a club interested in a potential deal.

MEN Sport revealed earlier this month Havertz is open to a United move in the summer transfer window and the 21-year-old regards a Premier League move as a “very realistic” option.

The offensive midfielder will have many suitors now that the Bundesliga season is over, with Bayern Munich champions still seen as favorites to sign him if he moves.

However, both Bayern and United suffered a potential setback after Bosz reiterated his desire to keep Havertz at the club for another season.

“I don’t think he’s thinking too much about the move. Neither have we,” Bosz said after Leverkusen’s last game of the season against Mainz.

“I certainly don’t have the impression that this will be his last game for the club. He is still under contract with us and I have to assume that he will be with us next season too.

“This will include the German Cup final next month and the next Europa League game against the Rangers in August. Of course, it will all depend on whether nothing will happen before then.”
