Manchester City keeper reached the semi-finals of the FA on Sunday after goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling secured an unimpeded 2-0 victory over Newcastle.

City conceded Liverpool’s Premier League title on the run this week, and must beat Arsenal 13-time FA Cup winner to reach another cup final. In Sunday’s draw, Chelsea will face Manchester United’s 12-time winner in the other semi-final.

The games will be held from 18 to 19 July in Wembley with no fans present.

On Sunday, Chelsea won 1-0 in Leicester and Arsenal needed an injury winner to earn a 2-1 draw at Sheffield United.

The City victory was much more comfortable.

De Bruyne brought City the lead by the penalty in the 37th minute of a dominant first half. Dwight Gayle missed a great chance to draw for Newcastle midway through the second half, detonating Allan Saint-Maximin’s sights from close range.

It was a rare opportunity for Steve Bruce’s team and a costly failure, when Sterling scored a few moments later, curling a shot from the edge of the area following a quick counterattack at 68th.

Substitutes made a difference for Chelsea and Arsenal.

Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley shot crosses from Willian in the 63rd.

Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos scored in 91st for Arsenal with a low shot, just four minutes after David McGoldrick had leveled from close range.

Striker Nicolas Pépé’s penalty brought Arsenal to halfway through the first half after United midfielder John Lundstram was sent offside. Defender John Egan’s header at the start of the second half was also canceled, much to the frustration of the home fans.

Man United beat Norwich 2-1 on Saturday in the other quarterfinals.

In Sunday’s only Premier League game, striker Danny Ings scored twice to reach 18 goals while Southampton won 3-1 in the fight against Watford.

Ings has scored in every goal to move a goal behind top scorer Jamie Vardy, who is undergoing a lean period for Leicester in third place.

Southampton rose one place to 13th place 13 points behind the relegation zone. But sixteenth place Watford remains a point above the pitch with six games left.
