Bola.net – Liverpool legend John Barnes believes that the Reds will not spend a lot of money in the transfer market to get star players. Because of this, they will not buy a defender Naples Kalidou Koulibaly.

Liverpool has long been associated with Koulibaly. The Senegalese player is considered fit enough to accompany Virgil van Dijk in the heart of the Reds defense.

Koulibaly is now considered one of the best central defenders in the world. This was of course thanks to his solid performance with Partenopei.

Liverpool just won the Premier League title in a very extraordinary way. Jurgen Klopp’s team is believed to continue to improve the strength of his squad with world-class players.

Tak Beli Koulibaly

Barnes called Koulibaly a very good player. However, Barnes believes Liverpool will not want to spend a lot of money for the Napoli defender.

“Koulibaly is a very good player and if you see Joe Gomez, he can help him. Koulibaly is a ready-made player, so if Liverpool get it, it will certainly be a good purchase,” Barnes told BonusCodeBets.

“If Liverpool fail to get Koulibaly, this team is still 25 points better than the other teams, as long as they don’t lose players …”

“I don’t think there is a strong reason to buy a top player. Yes, they bought Takumi Minamino and might have the power to add a few new players that won’t jump right into the first team. But I don’t think that is really necessary either.”

Non-Guaranteed Champion

With seven matches remaining, Liverpool is the fastest club ever to win a Premier League title. Barnes is not sure if Liverpool’s status as champions will guarantee the presence of top players.

“If Manchester City offer a double offer, then Koulibaly will go there,” he continued.

“Champions don’t guarantee the arrival of star players.”

“Liverpool have a tempting offer, but so do the other teams. Is Liverpool more attractive than Barcelona and Manchester City? I don’t think that’s entirely true.”

“What might have happened is that a certain style of footballer might be suitable for Liverpool. I don’t think the style of play is suitable for Manchester City.”

Not hunting for big stars

Liverpool does need to buy players to improve the quality of his team. However, Barnes believes that the Reds will not look for players of the caliber of Neymar or Lionel Messi who will cost a very large amount.

“Liverpool are always trying to improve quality and a big team is always connected with a lot of players and when you are at the top, then it’s the right time to buy,” Barnes said.

“But I don’t feel Liverpool will buy a lot of players. If there is a purchase that is felt to improve the quality of the team, they will do it. But the same thing happened to other teams.

“Liverpool will not go all out to get coveted players. Liverpool will not hunt for a Neymar or Messi who makes the team have to spend a lot of money.

“Liverpool will get the players they want but they don’t need to break a bank account.”
