Timo Werner revealed the reason for choosing Chelsea. The figure of manager Frank Lampard is considered to be able to convince him to join.
Chelsea secured Werner from RB Leipzig this summer. The 24-year-old striker was bailed out by 47.5 million, and will join starting July 1.
The striker, who scored 34 goals and 13 assists for Leipzig this season, was previously linked with Liverpool. However, Chelsea can overtake the Reds to recruit him.
Werner explained, Lampard could convince him to choose Chelsea. The 43-year-old manager can show his desire to have the player.
“Discussions with those responsible at Chelsea went very well, so I finally chose Chelsea,” Werner told Sky Germany, reported by Bild.
“The coach specifically supports me and really wants me to know that I can go to Chelsea. So I can feel comfortable there,” he explained.
Werner became Chelsea’s second recruit this summer. Previously, the Blues had secured Judge Ziyech from Ajax Amsterdam.
