And Commons urges Celtic to put things between the sticks when he questions the club’s prudent signing strategy at 10 In A Row.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said, “I think you are about to sign (Fraser) Forster, but you should have made a bigger effort to hold on (Craig) Gordon.

“I was really upset that Gordon was offered reduced terms. He’s 37, not 45, and he’s been one of the best, if not the best, goalkeeper in Scotland in the past decade.

“If Celtic had been finally excluded from the Forster race, I would not have hesitated to give him the No. 1 shirt.

“He clearly feels that he needs first team football to regain his place in Scotland and when Forster comes back he won’t get much of it at Celtic Park.”

“But what happens if Celtic loses its # 1 goal in the coming days? When it comes to money, Chelsea Forster can offer four times the wages available in Scotland’s richest club.

“Gordon’s departure now makes it more important than ever for Celtic to push the boat out to get Forster back.

“For me it’s just typically Celtic. They always had the talent to make players as cheap as possible without breaking the bank.

“If you are in a row just before ten, you have to go this extra yard.”
