Above Dagbladet a week ago, Frida Karlsson did not conceal that she was inspired by Therese Johaug’s impressive time at 10,000 meters at Bislett. Still, she had a feeling that she could do just as well with running shoes on her legs.
– I’m good at running. I have long legs and good lung capacity. I also have a good run, Karlsson told Dagbladet.
Now the Swedish favorite has set a new record in a traditional Swedish fitness test.
The Hallstat test is a race of 1800 meters by 210 meters and is located in Karlsson’s hometown, Sollefteå.
For about 40 years, various athletes have tried the test and the previous record has Karlsson’s national team friend Ebba Andersson at 8.56.
Karlsson should have beaten this record now, but just how fast the unseen races are kept secret.
– The times are not official according to tradition, but according to the reports, the record should have been beaten by a good margin, Sollefteå Municipality writes on Facebook.
Karlsson even confirms the record on his Instagram profile and has just given a short, cryptic comment to SVT.
“We can probably let you speculate freely,” she told the Swedish national broadcaster.
Karlsson has previously competed in long distance running and is now at a higher physical level with greater lung capacity than ever before.
The cross-country race is still 20 years old and just getting better and better. She is a few inches taller than Johaug and has a better run on paper.
– I skip a lot in training, but not as much on the course as usual. Obviously you get a little inspired to find out what I can do on the track when you see how well Therese claims. I have to test and test how fast I can actually run now, ”the 20-year-old told Dagbladet a short time ago.
So now she has tested, but she did not want to reveal how well it went.
