Kane Cornes accuses AFL referee of “agenda” against GWS Giants star Toby Greene

The great Kane Cornes from Port Adelaide beat up the AFL referee fraternity because it appears to have an “agenda” against GWS Giants star Toby Greene.

Cornes highlighted a number of examples from the Giants’ two-point victory over Collingwood on Friday, when Greene was clearly caught but did not get a free kick.

According to Cornes, the reason that Greene has not received any obvious free kicks is because of his difficulties before the tribunal in the past.

“I just think we have to celebrate players like Toby Greene and not punish them for past indiscretions,” he said AFL Sunday Footy Show.

“That is not a free kick is a joke. I hope the AFL comes out and rates it as if they had the Eddie Betts 50m penalty.

“I found his treatment on Friday evening so common that I think the AFL needs to recognize it.

“You have a sentence against Toby Greene and an agenda and the AFL umpires who re-inspired him (apologize). I think he will be punished for his reputation.

“Whether it’s subconscious or in the foreground of their thoughts. As soon as they’re at the moment, they’re more likely to give young (Tyler) Brown a free kick over Toby Greene’s neck and I could have shown five or six examples.

“I just think the reputation he has is different from any other referee.”

Cornes ‘claim was supported by Greenes’ recently retired teammate Brett Deledio.

“Oh, absolutely,” said Deledio ABC grandstand when asked whether Greene acts differently than other players.

“I don’t often agree with Kane, but I will on that point.

“(Greene) gets an unfair run, they’re almost looking for him to do something wrong.”
