Yesterday, Julian Alaphilippe’s father died after a long illness. “Our thoughts are with the family,” writes Deceuninck-Quick Step.
Jacques Alaphilippe, Jo for short, had been ill for a while. Last year father Alaphilippe was still present on the Champs-Elysées, Julian gave him an intense hug.
Father Alaphilippe was a musician and had his own orchestra. Julian took over the music bug and started playing drums in his youth.
Deceuninck-Quick Step expresses its condolences on Twitter. “We are very sad about the death of Jo Alaphilippe, Julian’s father and (coach) Franck’s uncle.”
“The thoughts of the Deceuninck-Quick Step family are with them. We thank you for the support and also ask them to respect their desire for privacy in these difficult times.”
