How the Man FA FA Cup win affected Fernandes and Aubameyang’s FPL appeal

Norwich 1-2 Man United

targets: Todd Cantwell (£ 4.6 million) | Odion Ighalo (£ 6.3 million), Harry Maguire (£ 5.3 million)

Assist: Emi Buendía (£ 6.0 million) | Anthony Martial (£ 8.2 million)

Red cards: Timm Klose (£ 4.3 million)

Selected minutes played:

  • Bruno Fernandes – 120 minutes
  • Odion Ighalo – 120 minutes
  • Harry Maguire – 120 minutes
  • Luke Shaw – 120 minutes
  • Marcus Rashford – 57 minutes
  • Paul Pogba – 42 minutes
  • Anthony Martial – 24 minutes
  • Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 0 minutes

Owners of Bruno Fernandes (£ 8.7 million) prepare for a Gameweek 32+ bench when Manchester United travel to Brighton midweek.

This is because the Portuguese midfielder played all 120 minutes of victory in the FA Cup quarter-finals in Norwich.

Already owned by 20.9% of Fantasy’s managers, interest in Fernandes has been high, but his last two releases have shown cause for concern.

He was one of only three players in the 3-0 victory over Sheffield United to maintain his place, which, in current circumstances, is far from ideal for fantasy purposes.

Fernandes has not only been overshadowed by Paul Pogba (£ 8.3 million) in Gameweek 31+ Old Trafford’s win, but he probably had his worst game to date even in a Manchester United jersey on Carrow Road.

He provided a good opportunity to score early in the second half, tried too many tricks that failed to come off and couldn’t find those around him with ambitious passes through the ball.

Basically, Fernandes played every single minute of this FA Cup game that seriously jeopardizes the chances of him starting on Tuesday in Brighton. It would have been a problem for his Gameweek 32+ credentials even if he had produced an impressive display in Norwich.

In comparison, most of Manchester United Fantasy’s main strikers received initial remnants before Norwich returned to a draw.

Marcus Rashford (9.1), Anthony Martial (£ 8.3 million) and Pogba were all among the eight changes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made on the side that beat Norwich, although all three were put into action later.

Rashford and Pogba were treated 57 and 42 minutes respectively in East Anglia, which was not the worst result for those who relied on the couple for Gameweek 32+.

Neither player added much to Saturday night’s proceedings, refusing to commit to the cause, which is probably the perfect result for their supporters: a few minutes in their potentially rusty post-injury legs without a full 90 or 120 minute trip or other knock.

In the meantime, things were even better for the martial owners, since he was only present for 24 minutes in the extra time when Solskjaer was doing everything possible to find a winner.

Not only the playing time is nice and thrifty, but the Frenchman also did well to carve out a groove in a crowded attack and a compact defense, providing assistance for Harry Maguirelate winner (£ 5.3 million).

Like Rashford and Pogba, Martial is almost certain to start in Brighton now, especially considering Odion Ighalo (£ 6.3 million) lead the Manchester United attack for 120 minutes against Norwich.

However, his supporters may want to keep an eye on the Nigerian for the rest of the campaign. He started his Red Devils career admirably, often scoring every time he is called, as he did in Norwich.

Solskjaer added after the game that Ighalo’s shape makes it rotatable with Martial. There are, at most, two more FA Cup games this season, plus seven in the league – so it seems highly unlikely that the former Watford man will go without a Premier League start between now and Gameweek 38+.

“(Ighalo) is very important, it was important for me [that we extended his loan], we worked hard to do it, Odion knows how much we appreciate him in and around the locker room. He is a scorer, a poacher, he is strong, we can play the ball, he showed for the second and Paul found him. It’s going well, but it also gives me the ability to rotate with Marcus [Rashford]Anthony [Martial] and Mason [Greenwood] so they can rest and we are fresh for every game. “- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

“It’s fantastic to have the ability to rotate. Anthony did really well, Anthony came and did brilliantly, he created opportunities. But Odion gives me the opportunity to rest Antho and is a proven marker. And today he played a role in both objectives and it’s nice to have a dressing room. ” – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

There have been mixed implications for those who have invested in Manchester United’s defense for Gameweek 32+.

Maguire e Luke Shaw (£ 5.4 million) both played 120 minutes, potentially putting the last chance of a start in Brighton at risk, especially with Brandon Williams (£ 4.1 million) playing just 57 minutes on Carrow Road. Having said that, the captain of the team that scores the winning goal will be an encouragement for the owners of Maguire, the central defender perhaps more likely to keep his place due to his position and role in the team.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£ 5.4 million) e David De Gea (£ 5.3 million) managed to avoid any involvement in the England Cup match, out of the team and on the bench respectively.

Furthermore, Wan-Bissaka seems much less likely to be rotated than those around him, considering the poor performance of Diogo Dalot (£ 4.9 million) on Saturday. The right back looked incredibly rusty, producing poor passes and sub-par crossings, all while Wan-Bissaka himself increased his creative output with every Premier League outing.

Perhaps the Fantasy managers who are likely to be most excited about Saturday’s FA Cup action are the ones who captained Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£ 11.0 million) for Gameweek 32+.

The defeat for Manchester United had a high cost for Norwich, who lost Make Klose (£ 4.3 million) for a red card e Todd Cantwell (£ 4.6 million) e Lukas Rupp (£ 4.4 million) to injury.

Klose was sent off for a tug on Ighalo, earning a one-game ban, which keeps him off the trip to Arsenal on Wednesday.

This means that Farke will arrive at the Emirates Stadium with a recognized central defender Ben Godfrey (£ 4.4 million), who played 120 minutes in the FA Cup. Christoph Zimmermann (£ 4.4 million) e Grant HanleyInjuries (£ 4.1 million) mean that either Alex Tettey (£ 4.5 million) will likely have to retire from the more versatile midfield Ibrahim Amadou | (£ 4.5 million) after leaving the club in January. Hardly an ideal set-up for Norwich, but potentially perfect for the Arsenal attack.

Supporters of a Gunners clean sheet will also be encouraged to see fitness problems higher for Norwich, with Saturday scorer Cantwell and Rupp now in a race to be on time for Gameweek 32+.

“Todd (Cantwell) complained during the second half about some problems with his kidnapper. I hope it’s not that bad. He felt it a little bit and after offering such a good performance I hope it will be available for the next game. “- Daniel Farke

“Lukas (Rupp) had a fantastic performance and we have to wait in the coming days. He had problems with his hip. He heard it about 10 minutes from the break. I thought it was his best performance since he came here. I wanted it on the pitch because it was so crucial to how we wanted to press the game, many defensive situations did well. I don’t think it’s too bad and we removed it before it could do serious harm. “- Daniel Farke

Norwich City XI (4-1-4-1): Krul; Lewis (Idah 118 ′), Klose, Godfrey, Aarons; Tettey; Cantwell (Trybull 90 ′), McLean, Rupp (O Hernández 62 ′), Buendía (Duda 90 ′); Pukki (Drmic 71 ′).

Manchester United XI (4-2-3-1): Romero; Shaw, Maguire, Bailly (Martial 96 ′), Dalot (Williams 63 ′); Fred (Pogba 78 ′), McTominay (Matić 78 ′); Lingard (Rashford 63 ′), B Fernandes, Mata (Greenwood 63 ′); Ighalo.
