Marián Čišovský was a Slovak football defender who became part of FC Viktoria Plzeň in 2011. However, his promising sports career began to fall apart when doctors discovered a disease called ALS. The incurable amyotrophic lateral sclerosis meant that he could not play from the spring of 2014.

ALS in the brain destroys the cells that control muscles. The brain is still aware of what is happening to the body, but the muscles are not listening, so one gradually loses control of the legs, arms and even the smallest muscles in the face. Čišovský suffered from the same thing that killed the politician Stanislav Gross when he was only 45 years old. The football player fought with ALS for six long years, the disease attracted him to a wheelchair, but it never took a smile from his face or the will to live and fight.
